Main duties of the job

The post will be based at  Trust wide but primarily at Gloucester Royal Hospital . This post is Monday to Friday, 0900 to 1700 with no evenings or weekends. This is the perfect job for someone who is new to the NHS or Gloucestershire hospitals who wants to gain confidence in COTE medicine while embedding themselves in the day to day running of the ward by our excellent MDT. There is scope to undertake out of hours work if required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post is suitable for anyone who has completed the Foundation Programme Year 1 (or equivalent).  Successful candidates will be expected to provide care for patients on a Care of the Elderly Ward with an appropriate level of supervision from senior doctors. This includes participating in board rounds, ward rounds, family discussions, initiating and interpreting investigations and preparing TTOs and discharge summaries.

The successful candidate will have an Clinical Supervisor and will be encouraged to attend teaching such as weekly departmental teaching, grand rounds, M&M meetings and journal club.  There is also plenty of opportunity to partake in Quality Improvement and service development.
