The post holder will spend one year in each trust starting at the Gloucestershire NHS Foundation (Cheltenham) Trust rotating through Great Western Hospital NHS Trust (Swindon), Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Foundation Trust, North Bristol NHS Trust. The order of the rotation will be confirmed on appointment. This post does not have Royal College approval for training. The posts are educationally sound and well supported, with excellent opportunities for professional development towards application onto the GMC Specialist Register in Urology. We will follow the current training requirements to support the postholder in achieving the knowledge, skills and experience aligned to the high-level learning outcomes of the GMC-approved Urology Curriculum. This evidence is collected in the same way as a trainee with a NTN, submitting assessments, reflections and feedback in line with the 2021 urology curriculum, using the ISCP platform, under the guidance of educational supervisors. Post holders would be expected to provide an out of hours service commitment, working alongside doctors in training with the same level of supervision. Whereas this is not an HEE recognised training post, the development of this post is supported by the training programme director for Urology in the South West, who will be able to advise within the post.
The clinical fellow and registrar timetables are planned 8 weeks in advance with plenty of opportunities to attend clinics and theatres for their educational needs. Timetable includes: Daily ward rounds with on call consultant. Admitting acute patients when on-call (1:6) 1-2 outpatient clinics per week (Management and Diagnostic Clinics) Flexible cystoscopy lists +/- Local anaesthetic precision point prostate biopsy lists (training will be provided if required)
Regular theatre exposure 1-2 days per week. Providing cover for colleagues in emergency and unforeseen situations. Providing supervision and teaching of peers and junior colleagues Participation at teaching and regular clinical meetings held within the hospital As a senior employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with and support other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.
