The Centre provides a full range of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic cardiac and pulmonary facilities. LHCH is one of the largest Trusts in the UK for percutaneous coronary intervention (2500 PCIs per annum . The TAVI programme consists of four interventional cardiologists, two aortic and one non-aortic surgeon, an imaging cardiologist and a radiologist. There are 2 dedicated TAVI specialist nurses and a co-ordinator who complete the TAVI team. Two hundred and forty TAVI procedures were performed in 2019. Transfemoral TAVI is minimally invasive and performed under local anaesthesia in the catheter lab. Complex ASD and PFO closures and other structural procedures also undertaken.
.There will be exposure to all aspects of structural intervention as well as opportunities to maintain skills in coronary intervention.
Outpatient work will include a weekly TAVI clinic and occasional PCI clinics (no more than 2 clinics per week in total). The appointee will be responsible for the management of TAVI patients and also for the post-procedure management of other structural intervention patients. The fellow wil also have an integral part in weekly TAVIU MDTs.
