This post involves the cleaning, decontamination and sterilising of re-usable surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes to support the Trust in the provision of care for patients. We work closely with our operating theatres and clinics to provide safe, sterile instruments and equipment at the time they are needed. We will provide in house training in all areas of the department, fully supporting your professional development
Working hours: 37.5 hours a week, alternating shifts; days 06:00 to 14:00 and evenings 12:00 to 20:00 and every 2nd weekend on a two week rotational basis (bank holidays by rota).
You must be willing to undertake in-house training and prepared to work shifts, weekends and Bank Holidays. You must be conscientious and have the ability to give attention to detail.
You must have good verbal and written skills, and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. This vacancy requires manual dexterity; as heavy lifting is involved.
Your role will include collecting and accepting delivery of used equipment from all customers including external agencies. To deal with all levels of customer queries via; telephone and direct personal contact, including clinicians, nurses, and other practitioners.
To check equipment, instructions, and other documentation before choosing the correct decontamination processes. To adhere to policies and procedures, currently operating within the Department/Trust.
