A secondment opportunity has arisen for 2 x Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurses in Intensive Care to cover maternity leave. One post is until the end of July 2025 and the other is until the end of April 2026

We are looking for a caring, friendly and highly motivated individual who thrives working in a challenging and dynamic environment.  You will possess a nationally recognised Intensive care qualification and already demonstrated your ability at Band 6 or 7 to consistently deliver supportive leadership and staff development.  You will work in partnership with the senior nursing team and will be supported by the Lead Nurse and Matron to provide leadership on both clinical and professional levels

Main duties of the job

A successful candidate will need to be compassionate, dynamic, reliable and flexible with an ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills and demonstrable clinical experience in a critical care hospital setting. You will need to have excellent clinical skills, knowledge and communication skills with exemplary standards of care. Applicants will be a role model for the team and will motivate and inspire others to be the very best they can be

The post holder will be expected to work clinically within the multidisciplinary team, maintain high standards of practice while supporting staff on a shift by shift basic and provide clinical leadership and decision making. They will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to sensitively manage change.

The post holder will be required to be an enthusiastic and integral member of our established and committed team, and provide and supervise the delivery of excellent patient care. The candidate will provide effective clinical leadership and management of the team in the Intensive Care Unit and demonstrate the ability to manage their time by prioritising and organising their working. They must demonstrate current personal development; have a good understanding and involvement in improving patient safety, risk reduction and development of others and general support for peers, junior and senior colleagues.

Demonstrates in all aspects of work that they uphold the beliefs as stated in the Unit Philosophy, with regards to patients, relatives and colleagues.

Ensures all equipment is operated safely according to Trust and local policy and facilitates the training and supervision of all staff acting promptly to initiate action plans for any Medical Device Agency alerts.

Inspires team members to provide and deliver best quality patient care as a clinically credible practitioner and role model.

Delivers care to critically ill patients in a level 2 and 3 setting.

Has continuous overall responsibility for patients, relatives and staff in the critical care area
