We are looking for an enthusiastic electrical/electronic Technician to join our High Dependency 2 (HD2) section of Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department. The work will be providing specialist technical support to Women & Children’s (W&C) specialty of the HD2 services which includes Neonatal Unit. Support will also be provided to other specialties within HD2 in response to service requirements.
A car and a full UK driving license are essential to the duties of the post, as participating in On-call is required by the HD2 Section.
Having previous experience on medical device maintenance would be beneficial however candidates with transferable skills could still be considered on an Annex 21 training program if there are no suitable qualified/experienced candidates. As a minimum, candidates should have a B-TEC/HNC, degree or equivalent in electrical / electronic engineering.
The service will be provided over five days per week and the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to negotiate appropriate flexible working hours. There may be a requirement to work some unsocial hours, as part of the work may need to be performed outside normal working hours.
Candidates will be required to attend a face to face interview and the practical assessment on site, no remote interviews will be considered.

The Post holder will provide full time specialist technical support to the Women & Children’s (W&C) speciality which include all wards/Departments/Neonatal Unit/high dependency areas in the Maternity Building, Children’s Ward/Outpatients departments at New Cross. Support will also be provided to other specialties within HD2 in response to service requirements and may include clinical areas located at Cannock Chase Hospital. He/she will have technical responsibility for the broad range of work provided and will be expected to work to a high level of skill where advanced technology and complex techniques are being used. He/she will liaise closely with the Section Head HD2, clinical staff and senior staff of the Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department. There will be the need to maintain effective professional links with clinical users of the technical service within HD2 speciality.
Ideally you should previously have achieved a high level of knowledge and competency/experience in the servicing and repair of electrical/electronic medical equipment used in high dependency clinical areas or extensive use of specialist medical devices in Women & Children’s discipline.
