Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated Therapeutic Radiographer looking for a leadership position? Then join us as a Band 8a Clinical Specialist Radiographer (Project Support) at the busy Kent Oncology Centre where we operate as one team across our two sites at Maidstone and Canterbury
We are equipped with nine linacs including six Truebeams, two Halcyons and an iXs. Brachytherapy is delivered at Maidstone with treatment radiographers rotating through the service. Consultant Palliative Radiographers and MacMillan specialists support the teams on both sites.
You would be expected to work with the clinical specialists to lead on service development day to day treatment delivery and management of staff across both sites, Canterbury and Maidstone
To manage operational issues including managing National Cancer Targets, patient complaints, incidents and all clinical activities.
To ensure that the working practices are consistent with the centres strategic plan and meet professional and locally agreed standards.
The Kent oncology Centre has a commitment to the development of all staff including the support and training for radiographer led services and site specialism.
Your base will be Canterbury but required to work 3 days at Canterbury and 2 days at Maidstone.
To provide a senior radiotherapy presence on the Canterbury /Maidstone site and any geographically co-located devolved units.
To assist locally on the Equipment Replacement Programme.
To manage operational issues including managing National Cancer Targets, patient complaints, incidents and all clinical activities.
To act as a resource for all radiotherapy staff and line manage all radiotherapy staff on the Canterbury site including Research radiotherapy staff.
Be recognised as a clinical expert in radiotherapy treatment, developing clinical practice, giving expert advice and disseminating knowledge to the radiotherapy team, Oncology Centre Trust and Nationally.
To liaise with other managers within the Canterbury and Maidstone departments in order to provide a patient focused service.
To lead a team of radiotherapists on the treatment units ensuring all treatments are performed according to trust and department policy within the quality environment.
To ensure that the working practices are consistent with the centres strategic plan and meet professional and locally agreed standards.
Ensure the ongoing development and training of staff and act as an assessor for post graduate staff competencies working with the Practice educator.
Provide a multi-disciplinary approach to service development and provision.
To support the clinical specialist team with ongoing development projects
To ensure all mandatory training is undertaken in the correct timeframe.
