An opportunity has arisen for an individual who is experienced, highly motivated, proactive and adaptable to become the Ward Manager on Ward 40. The ward is currently a pilot ward to support Flintshire medically optimised patients with Rehabilitation and Discharge Planning.

This post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to enhance and develop their managerial skills in leading a team of Nurses and Healthcare Professionals. You will be pivotal in ensuring the Ward runs efficiently and effectively by working closely with Multidisciplinary team to ensure timely discharges are successful.

You must have excellent leadership qualities and be able to act as a role model for the Nursing Team to ensure the highest standards of care and patient safety.

As the Ward Manager you will be accountable for the quality of care delivered to patients and families by your team over a 24 hour ward cycle.

Through your leadership you will effectively manage all resources, including your budget whilst ensuring the highest standards of care to patients.

Through excellent communication and commitment to your team you will ensure compliance with all Corporate and Divisional objectives and continuous professional development.

  • You will lead in establishing and maintaining effective communication with patients, relatives and carers to always ensure their involvement in the decisions about treatment, planning and the delivery of their care.
  • You will lead in maximising best use of clinical resources, the monitoring and evaluation of patient flow, admission and discharge planning and take responsibility for initiating improvements.
  • You will lead in providing the highest standard of evidenced based care to all patients and families through on-going comprehensive assessments of patient's requirements, and to plan, implement and evaluate care delivery to patients with varying levels of complexity.
  • You will manage and ensure patient records are maintained and monitored in accordance with the Trust's data collection policy and procedure, ensuring that documentation reflects the care provided and that you address any issues or concerns that arise.
  • You will take responsibility in supporting the patient and public involvement activities in the ward/department area, leading to service improvement.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £27.50 (standard) or £55.50 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £16 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
