The Countess of Chester Care of The Elderly Team on Ward 51 has an exciting opportunity for a enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to join Ward 51 as Ward Manager.

As a Band 7 Ward Manager in this area you will need to possess excellent communication skills, be flexible, compassionate and able to prioritise  your workload.  You will be working alongside a wider multidisciplinary team (Medical Staff, Speciality Doctors, Physiotherapists, Nurses and Support Workers) and must possess the leadership qualities to enable the team to deliver a high standard of care.

The ideal candidate will have managerial experience and an advanced understanding of complex discharge planning and processes. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Band 6 Nurse to gain experience in a more senior managerial position.

Main duties of the job

  • You will work closely with the Matrons and Ward Manager colleagues and be committed to the development and delivery of high standards of nursing practice.
  • You will have strong clinical skills, a wide knowledge base and be prepared to take a leading role in developing staff.
  • Leading by example you will possess the confidence to make decisions, solve problems and initiate change.
  • You should demonstrate evidence of ongoing clinical and professional development.
  • This post will provide excellent opportunity to develop your existing management skills and influence practice within the ward environment.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £23 (standard) or £43 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £13 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
