Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time post for a Doctor (equivalent ST4-7) to join our department at the Royal United Hospital Bath from 1st April 2025 until 30th September 2025. The successful candidate will be part of the registrar rota. Training can be offered in general areas of obstetrics and gynaecology, emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy and elective outpatient and theatre work including specialist areas including colposcopy, laparoscopy, gynaecological oncology and ambulatory gynaecology. Previous experience of working in the UK at registrar level is essential.

The successful applicant will work as a key member on the registrar rota fulfilling a 1 in 9 on call rota.

Main duties of the job

This post is designed for candidates with previous experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Research and quality improvement interests are encouraged and supported.

The 9 trainees work on the middle grade rota and are contracted to cover each other during absence on annual and study leave. The middle grades are resident on-call. They are expected to take part in teaching midwives and junior medical staff and help to plan the teaching programmes.

There are regular departmental meetings and research links with the University of Bath, University of Exeter and through the Bath School of Postgraduate Medicine.

The successful candidate will undertake resident oncall (‘1 in 9’) covering obstetrics and gynaecology.

General Requirements:      Subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service, the post holder will be expected to observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters and to follow the standing orders, financial instructions and code of expectations of the Trust.
