Job overview

The Radiotherapy Department at NNUH is a networked, paperless department using predominantly Varian equipment.   We have a managed service contract which allows us to purchase and maintain state of the art radiotherapy equipment, including a fleet of five Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, two CT simulators, a Varian Bravos brachytherapy unit and an Xstrahl 150 superficial unit.  We are striving forwards with SGRT; we have AlignRT on all our linacs, SimRT for our CTs and are soon to bring in MapRT.  Our dosimetry planning is radiographer-led, predominately using VMAT and IMRT.  We also have radiographer-led on-treatment review and radiotherapy late effects services.

We are focused on staff development with a large team of advanced and consultant therapeutic radiographers.  We support postgraduate education for our registered staff with many undertaking MSCs and doctorates.  We have close links with University of Suffolk, University of Hertfordshire and Sheffield Hallam University who provide our traditional undergraduate and apprentice courses.

Main duties of the job

The Therapeutic Radiographer Team Manager will be expected to develop the work and staff within dosimetry and to seek to continually improve the service, whilst providing for the capacity and demand issues.  The successful candidate will ensure a high standard of technical practice within dosimetry, supervising and assisting with new or complex techniques, and providing a technical troubleshooting role, liaising with other Team Managers and members of the multi-disciplinary team as necessary.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.
