Job overview

Ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist Systemic  Psychotherapy service for families where at least one adult member has an enduring mental health problem and to work with the colleagues across mental health services to ensure an effective, high quality clinical service.

Supervise and support the systemic assessment and therapy provided by other family therapy team members, psychologists, psychological therapists, and other clinical members of teams who provide systemically based care and treatment.

Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of systemic practice within the family therapy service.

Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research. Propose and implement policy changes within the area served by the family therapy team and systemic psychotherapy service.

Main duties of the job

To provide systemic psychotherapy to adults with complex, severe and/or enduring mental health issues and their families as an autonomous professional and within a systemic psychotherapy team at highly specialist level employing methods based upon evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for implementing a range of systemic interventions for individuals and their families, including meetings with all significant family members and professionals, adjusting, and refining systemic formulations.

Provision of highly specialist one-to-one clinical consultations to other clinical staff and thereby contribute directly to the formulation, diagnosis and intervention plans for families.

Fully engage in systemic supervision with a qualified systemic psychotherapist in accordance with UKCP registration guidelines.

Participate as a senior clinician within the adult psychology and psychological therapy service in the development of a high quality, responsive and accessible family therapy pathway.
