The role is to work as part of a rota to provide food services from 7am – 7pm, 365 days per year. Main base is St Peter’s Hospital, with requirement to work across both St Peter’s and Ashford Hospital sites to fulfil role and working at any other Trust site as required.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the smooth delivery of patient food and consumables to the wards on a timely basis.

Liaise with ward staff to ensure they are receiving the stock they need and advising of any issues that may arise.

Receiving goods from suppliers and accurately checking that the batch number and expiry dates match those on the Delivery Note and annotating any discrepancies.

To ensure that all HACCP, COSSH, Trust and legal requirements are followed to ensure patient safety.

Ensure that the food is stored at the required temperatures and that the storeroom is maintained in a clean and tidy manner.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Receiving goods from suppliers and accurately check that the batch number and expiry dates, temperature match those on the Delivery Note and annotate these on the Delivery Note.  Any shortfalls or damages report to supervisor/Manager immediately.

The post holder to receipt, storage, distribution and delivery all of food items across the hospital.

Picking goods and delivery to all wards and outpatient departments.

To ensure all aspects of health and Food Safety Act 1990, food hygiene, COSHH, Infection Control and relevant regulations are strictly adhered to.

Temperature records: check/record fridge/freezer and regent temperature as per the HACCP and report to the supervisor any shortfalls.

To report all maintenance issues and hazards to your Supervisor.

To ensure compliance with all aspects of Health and Safety legislation and the correct use of personal protective equipment.

To ensure the store areas are clean and kept tidy and presentable at all times.

To empty and dispose of all waste in accordance with the TRUST’S Infection Control and Waste Disposal Policies.

To comply with departmental & Trust personal hygiene policy/procedures at all times.

To wear the correct uniform as provided by the Trust.

Manoeuvre loaded trolleys, cages and pallets within confined spaces.
