The Gynaecology Outpatient Department is looking for a very motivated and motivated Staff Nurse to join the team.
The department provides external general and specialist clinics including Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy and Urinary and Oncology.
You will work with the multi-disciplinary outpatient team to ensure safe, well organised and effective clinics, ensuring a positive experience for patients and families using our service.

Main duties of the job
To provide care for groups of patients in the ward setting under the leadership of a more senior member of staff. In rare event of the absence of a more senior member of staff, to act as shift leader.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- v To be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of holistic programmes of care for patients reporting to the shift leader and medical staff significant changes in condition. v To work within the rules and guidelines of the NMC and BCUHB v To ensure that they work collaboratively with patients and their families ensuring that they have sufficient information to make informed choices regarding their care v Delegate tasks appropriately to other health care worker and learners ensuing they are competent to undertake the designated task v To identify clients for referral to other specialists when needs and risks are beyond ones own scope of practice, working in collaboration with these specialists to continue to meet the needs of clients v To use a multidisciplinary approach when planning and delivering care utilising other members of the primary health care team, other services and voluntary organisations embracing the public health agenda v To identify and report poor performance issues v To inform the shift leader when agreed standards cannot be met v Ensure that all clinical environments are conducive to meeting the needs of the patients at all times v To communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of people in a manner which promotes positive working relationships v To effectively communicate and explore complex issues and make complex decisions and judgements relating to patient care v Participate in the development and evaluation of clinical policies, protocols and guidelines v Identifying areas for clinical audit and undertake effective data collection using identified data collection tools as required by the auditor v Participate in locally identified clinical governance issues v To make effective use of resources identifying when there is a need to reorder stocks/supplies v To be aware of BCUHB child protection procedures
