This can be a permanent or fixed term position, part time or full time, we are very adaptable, working on a fully flexible, self-rostered, annualised rota.  country.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, our diverse patient-mix of approximately 70,000 attendances per year (both adult and children) and responsibilities as an accredited Trauma Unit provide varied and interesting clinical challenges.

A bespoke development programme is tailored to each ED clinical team member’s needs. This allows our team members to achieve acute and emergency care competencies, in line with the RCEM higher specialty training curriculum. This allows development of emergency care skills, support progress onto our CESR programme (this is not a CESR dedicated post), or improve evidence for specialty training applications. Relevant life support courses are paid for by the trust, outside your study budget. All of these activities are supported through a purpose built education and clinical skills centre within the hospital.

Main duties of the job

• Key duties include the examination, investigation, treatment and referral (as appropriate) of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• To oversee the work of junior doctors (F1, F2 and ST VTS ), allied health professionals working in the department, to ensure that an acceptable standard of practice is maintained.
• To ensure that all medical staff have their appropriate breaks when acting as shift leader.
• To undertake on the floor teaching of medical and nursing students, junior medical and nursing staff in the department.
• To undertake departmental audits and Quality improvement projects.
