Are you a qualified psychological therapist passionate about perinatal mental health? Are you looking to work within a specialist team where you will be supported by other psychological professionals? We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing team of psychological professionals working in perinatal community services in Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire. The successful applicant will work within an established and experienced MDT to provide psychological intervention to service users within the Parent and Baby Service and the Lotus Maternal Mental Health Service.
We offer excellent clinical supervision and support. There are a wide range of CPD opportunities available. The post will be based at the Parent and Baby Unit in Shelton, Stoke on Trent, however this is a hybrid role including some remote working and working at other sites.
You will be supported by the Consultant, Principal and Senior Clinical Psychologists, Specialist Psychological Therapist and Assistant Psychologist within the team, joining an experienced and friendly Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Perinatal mental health services are expanding nationally and we are fully prepared to support clinicians who are moving to a new speciality, as well as welcoming those who are experienced in perinatal mental health.
The Parent and Baby Day Service is a specialist perinatal secondary mental health service. The service is interested in the prevention, detection and management of perinatal problems that complicate pregnancy and the postpartum year. These problems can include new difficulties, recurrences of previous difficulties, and those women who have existing mental health problems. The team at the Parent and Baby Day Service provides a comprehensive service of high intensity with customised treatments for parents with psychological disorders associated with pregnancy and childbirth. Psychology is well integrated, valued and respected by the team.
Lotus provide support for women/birthing people and their families who are looking for help with their mental health which has been significantly affected by pregnancy loss, tokophobia, birth trauma or trauma in a neonatal care setting. This service is psychology led and includes specialist midwifery within the MDT.
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary.
In addition, the post holder will provide support, supervision and guidance to less experienced team members, supporting their work in evidence based individual therapy, and their provision of group programmes based on psychological principles.
To contribute to the development of pathways within perinatal mental health in North Staffordshire, with ample opportunity for continued professional development. Individual supervision requirements will of course be met, either within the team or externally if needed.
