Job overview

Due to upcoming maternity leave there is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative Physiotherapist to join the Children’s Physiotherapy Service at Northampton General Hospital for a fixed term post.  The post is part time so could allow for some flexibility in working hours.

We are looking for a Physiotherapist with excellent clinical knowledge and experience of working with children, young people, and their families. You must have demonstrated paediatric physiotherapy experience working within an acute and community NHS paediatric physiotherapy environment at either an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 level.

Main duties of the job

You will have a dedicated caseload of children with complex difficulties including neurodisability, orthopaedic and respiratory. You will provide clinical, professional, and supervisory support to Band 6 Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy assistants.

The Children’s Physiotherapy Team is a dynamic, forward thinking, and friendly team. We cover the West Northants area and are based at Northampton General Hospital.

Clinical To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of the practitioner’s professional activities. To undertake the highly specialist assessment, as an autonomous practitioner of children with muscular-skeletal, developmental, neuromuscular, respiratory and other complex problems in a range of settings, as a lone practitioner. To provide highly specialised physiotherapy care and treatment for paediatric patients based on theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience, and to be consulted frequently for highly specialist advice and guidance by junior team members and other health care professionals both within and outside the trust.

Improving patient and visitor experiences Be a point of contact for patients and relatives.

Lead on the development and sharing of patient and carer information.

Implement methods of gathering and using patient feedback to improve and develop services.

Management To comply with all Trust policies and procedures and the Health and Safety at Work Act,  including adherence to Infection Control measures, and ensure that staff within the team are aware of their responsibilities. To be involved in the daily management, supervision and co-ordination of a designated team including staff appraisal, performance management, and informal grievance. Promote safe and effective communication channels within Children’s Physiotherapy and multi-professional teams both at NGH and with external agencies.
