Are you looking for a new, dynamic and different nursing challenge caring for children with cancer?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the Apheresis Team. We are looking for a paediatric oncology nurse or nurse with apheresis experience. You must have well-developed organisational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and be a strong communicator. You will have an opportunity to work both autonomously and as part of a team, to ensure families are provided with support for a smooth patient experience. The successful candidate will have the support to engage and work with a range of colleagues at all levels and from all professional groups. You will be part of a team delivering ground-breaking treatment to children with life threatening diseases.

Main duties of the job

To support the apheresis service by:

  • Triaging and accepting referrals for the apheresis or leukapheresis
  • Co-ordinating and referring the apheresis procedure with NHSBT, Cell Therapy and Interventional Radiology amongst other members of the MDT
  • Educating and explaining the procedure to staff and families, producing a timetable for patients, colleagues, and the wider/external MDT
  • Taking informed consent for the procedure as per JACIE standards
