NHS Western Isles are looking to recruit Podiatrists to join their enthusiastic and progressive team based in a rural, general hospital in one of the most spectacular areas of the UK.

The potential exists for either an experienced Podiatrist specialising in general practice (Band 6) or a recent graduate who wishes to develop their clinical skills. The latter role would initially be at Band 5 with progression to Band 6 under Annexe T.

Experienced Podiatrists will be competent in the delivery of a high standard of care in a variety of settings and in all aspects of podiatry management.

New graduates will have opportunity to gain experience within MSK, wound care, advanced vascular assessments, nail surgery and orthotic manufacture with the possibility of specialising depending upon your area of interest

We are offering an opportunity to live and work in our beautiful, rural island community. You can enjoy amazing outdoor and cultural activities such as kayaking, climbing, hill walking, diving as well as a wealth of traditional crafts and music related pursuits.  Houses are affordable; schools are excellent where children can enjoy a very varied social life including dancing, art clubs, music lessons, drama clubs, scouting, running clubs.

The Podiatry Department is committed to recognising and developing the skills of its staff and we encourage all the team to undertake training both locally and on the mainland. On site we have an excellent Clinical Skills Centre, Sim Lab, post-graduate library and small orthotics laboratory.

We currently have 3.84 WTE podiatrists who specialise in General Practice along with two Extended Scope Practitioners.  You will be joining a team committed to delivering the very best podiatric care including MSK, diabetes, wound management, nail surgery and general podiatry. We deliver care based upon need, via care pathways and Patient Initiated Reviews.  The Service is fully integrated providing both primary and secondary care from modern, well-equipped clinics based in the Western Isles’ three main hospitals.  These posts will be based in the Podiatry department in the Western Isles Hospital, Stornoway a 50 bed rural general hospital.

For further information regarding this post please contact Sarann Macphee, Podiatry Manager, Tel: 01851 708285 or email at – sarann.macphee@nhs.scot

The successful applicant will be required to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme). This post is not eligible for relocation expenses.
