This is a newly created post that will be based within the North Camden Community Team.

There is another post within the South Camden Community Team and the two post holders will work closely together.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialist CAMHS Clinician to work within a strong MDT Community CAMHS setting and closely with our nurse led Camden Adolescent Intensive Support Service [CAISS].

You will need to be an enthusiastic, strong team worker who has a positive track record of collaborative working relationships as this role will require partner-working across multiple agencies and services.

The post holder will be familiar with leading on clinical care coordination, carrying out CAMHS Assessments, risk assessments and implementing robust CAMHS Crisis plans within a complex system.

This post would be suitable for a clinician who has a core qualification in: Mental Health Nursing, Social Work (with CAMHS experience), Systemic and Family Psychotherapy, Clinical/Counselling Psychology or Occupational Therapy.

It is desirable for the applicant to also have additional therapeutic qualifications and skills, such as: CBT, Systemic Foundation training.

Part time working/ job share may be available.

Main duties of the job

• Clinical Duties, Leadership and Supervision
• The post holder will hold their own highly complex caseload within the team including risk management and clinical governance
• Provide clinical supervision to trainees and less experienced practitioners
• Provide consultation as required to external agencies, for example to GPs/Schools/Local Authorities
• Undertake clinical assessments of service users/patients and offer skilled treatment or therapy using appropriate therapeutic modalities such as [provide examples]
• To ensure, where appropriate, agreed standardised assessment questionnaires are completed with clients as per team protocol and to systematically collect data on caseload as required by the team lead/manager
• To formulate specialised programmes for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a service user/patient’s psycho-social difficulties taking into account multiple theoretical differences and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy
• Arrange reviews and communicate effectively and sensitively with the patient/service user to monitor progress during the course of multi-disciplinary intervention.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be able to share thinking, working practices with colleagues across NCL, specifically around crises care and crisis plans.  Overall, this will allow improved coordinated crisis support and communication across a CYP’s network and prevent the escalation of mental health needs and ensuring community support within existing complex systems.

In general, the post holder will hold a caseload of highly complex service users.

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of evidenced based care to a group of service users, conscious of their changing healthcare needs and varying levels of complexity, working collaboratively, with other clinicians and stakeholders.

The post holder will have a reduced caseload in order to respond promptly to cases whereby there is an increase in risk and complexity, based within a Community CAMHS team, they will work very closely with their multi-disciplined colleagues in offering additional therapeutic input and leading on the care coordination of the case.  It is likely that these cases will be fitting that of a ‘Risk Support’ profile or be CYP not yet ready to start a talking therapy due to risk and various contextual factors.  In order for caseloads to remain low, it will be important for the Specialist Clinician, Complex Care Coordinator to have robust care and risk plans in place and work closely with the Community Teams to support engagement and potential reduction in CAMHS input, to that of the Community CAMHS team who are potentially offering evidence-based timed treatment.

The post holder will specifically manage complex needs cases and bridge physical, mental health, learning and intellectual disabilities and social care needs between 0-18 years.   They will work alongside partners and other key stakeholders to support complex individuals. Within the Community CAMHS Teams and alongside CAISS, the MDTs will agree care and support plans and meet regularly to ensure cases are well attended to and their needs are being met. Alongside the CAISS team, they will support complex discharges from Tier 4 and those at risk of admission including eating disorders, self-harm and severe emotional distress.

Post holder will be required to work within a multi-disciplinary team delivering a range of outcome focused, evidence based, and complex interventions and responsible for the formulation and delivery of specialised programmes of care.

The post holder will contribute to the quality, safety and continuous improvement of services provided to service users and their families.

The post holder will foster a culture of networking in an open and transparent way with internal and external partners.

Post holder will act as a positive role model and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff.
