A vacancy has arisen for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our team in the Blood Sciences department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, which is hosted by the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology Network.

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic Biomedical Scientists with a flexible approach to work.

The posts are covering 37.5 hours over a 5 day working week.

Applicants must possess an IBMS accredited degree in Biomedical Sciences, have relevant experience in Haematology, and hold current registration with the HCPC (Band 5/Band 6 BMS). Ideally, candidates will have completed the IBMS specialist portfolio (Band 6 BMS) or be close to assessment.

Main duties of the job

  • To be accountable for own professional actions and work independently for long periods of time without supervision.
  • Work in line with all prescribed Standard Operating Procedures and Policies as directed and be involved in the review process.
  • Adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct for Health Care Scientists and will be accountable for your professional actions.
  • Ensure that all tests are performed efficiently within the assigned time and in accordance with established protocols to the required standards
