Job summary

The Short Stay Unit (SSU) is looking for a passionate, hardworking and friendly Senior Nurse to support the Ward Manager on the Short Stay Unit. This is a permanent position of 30 hours a week. You will be the advocate for the Ward Managers in their absence and ensure care is delivered according to trust policies and procedures. They will coordinate the unit providing effective and consistent leadership to junior members of staff. They will also be responsible for supporting and educating staff on the unit to deliver the best care they can.

Main duties of the job

To have continuing 24 hour responsibility supporting the Ward Manager for the effective management of the area and deputising in their absence. In addition the post holder will provide nursing leadership within this area, ensuring an effective quality nursing service, with responsibility for standards of nursing care and patient safety.

The Sister/Charge Nurse will be responsible for supporting the Ward Manager with budget management of the ward, staff performance and appraisal. To manage an appropriate patient workload across the service, providing expert support and advice. Developing the teams and ensuring a seamless service for patients working closely with the Ward Manager and Nursing Team.
