South Tyneside and Gateshead sexual heath team has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed Sexual Health Specialist Nurse. We are looking for a qualified sexual health nurse, who is friendly and enthusiastic, with a flexible approach to provide support to the clinical team. This fixed term (18 months) part-time role (21 hours), will be predominantly based within the community sexual health clinic at either Gateshead Sexual Health Service in Trinity Square Health Centre or Palmers Community Hospital in Jarrow and outreach clinical locations.

We are a friendly, community based, multi-disciplinary team. We are committed to delivering high quality, integrated sexual health care for the local population, our service includes both contraceptive and genito-urinary medicine. The post-holder must be able to maintain a sensitive and non-judgemental approach to support patients with their sexual health needs.

Main duties of the job

The sexual health service is part of the community directorate within South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Specialist Sexual Health Nurse and Demonstrate they have previous experience working within an integrated sexual health service

Maintain and respect strict confidentiality standards for service users

Maintain a sensitive and non-judgemental approach when working with service users

The post holder will be required to work evening and weekend duties as part of a monthly roster.

The post holder will be required to travel between clinic locations and for meetings as necessary.

The post holder will work effectively as part of the wider sexual health team and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

To co-ordinate the delivery and development of the sexual health service through theuse of effective evidence based practice in line with agreed national standards forpatient safety and monitoring.

To be accountable for the planning and delivery of safe, effective and compassionatepatient care in relation to dedicated pathways of care, working as an autonomouspractitioner.

To continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governanceframework.

To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Conduct.

To ensure effective communication internally and externally regarding patient careand resources.

Provide education and training to clinical staff across the Trust.

Provide specialist clinical advice and support to patients and clinical staff within theTrust on the management and care of patients within sexual health.

To provide direct access for patients, either face to face or telephone consultation.

To represent the service nationwide.

To play a key role in ensuring that national and local standards/targets for the sexualhealth are met.

To manage/lead practitioner led clinics in relation to reviewing patients and play a keyrole in optimising complex treatment regimes.

To undertake research relevant to the needs of the specialist area.

To comply with the Trust vision, values and behavioural compact
