Job overview

This is an exciting time to join Ashford & St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as we work on the expansion of our elective theatres at Ashford Hospital, & move towards this becoming our dedicated elective centre, whilst we are increasing our CT services at Woking CDC.

We hope to use this to create an environment of learning and facilitate training of the next generation of our skilled NHS workforce. Our plans are ambitious - why not, come and be a part of our journey. We are looking to appoint to a number of roles to support this dedicated site, including this position of Senior Radiographer (Full time position)

You will be a senior radiographer in CT and work closely with the CT Superintendent Radiographer with a particular emphasis on the day to day running of the 4 CT Scanners across 3 sites. You will be experienced in all CT procedures and provide a patient focused professional service. Some managerial experience is required & in conjunction with the Superintendent you’ll lead the service through changing and challenging times. You’ll be expected to rotate through all areas of the department.

We actively encourage staff to undertake continuing professional development & extension of role. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to extend their role in line with service needs.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Work alongside the CT Superintendent to integrate the CT scanning services at Ashford and St Peters NHS Hospital Trust.
  • Participate in the training of junior radiographers, student radiographers and RDA’s.
  • Deputise for the CT Superintendent in periods of absence.
  • Work in conjunction with the CT Superintendent to improve service delivery and service improvement.
  • Maintain high clinical standards, particularly regarding patient care, clinical risk and health and safety.
  • To liaise with other Health care professionals and departmental staff on a daily basis to ensure optimal care for patients.
  • To continue to develop ones own knowledge, practice and development through continued professional development.

To maintain clinical expertise by rotating through other imaging service areas as appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Job Description and Person Specification links will provide detailed information, and in summary, the successful candidates will need to hold a DCR or BSc Diagnostic Radiography (or equivalent) with current Membership to the Professional Body (HCPC) and significant clinical experience. The department operates a shift system covering 7 days, working 12 hour shifts. The successful candidate has the option to take part in these and therefore needs to be able to work 3 or 4 shifts a week, either 8am to 8pm or 8pm to 8am. There is an attractive shift allowance given for working this.
