  • Be a Qualified Social Worker with a live unrestricted registration with Social Work England.
  • Have an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status.
  • Have at least 3 years post continuous qualifying experience.

Main duties of the job

If you are a forward-thinking Social Worker who want to promote high quality practice, demonstrate leadership and want to work closely with principles of recovery and social inclusion, then we have a vacancy available for you of a Senior Practitioner Social Worker within our Community Mental Health Team.  This position is graded as G8 (GLPC) with Salary Spine Points 35-39.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide input to adults with mental health difficulties and learning disability, some of whom will have additional complex needs because of a physical disability, mental health problems, challenging behaviour, sensory impairment, dementia etc.

Main duties include:

  • Support the Social Care lead and Team Manager to effectively lead, support and develop the team.
  • Deputise for the team manager as required.
  • Assist with overall responsibility within the team for assessment, care/support planning and review of people with a range of needs and their carers, working within a multi-disciplinary framework.
  • Undertake the legal and statutory duties of the post as required by the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act and any other relevant legislation.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance within the team, on social care issues.
  • Provides expert guidance on statutory duties, prepares court reports and attends court and court of protection hearings to provide expert evidence when necessary.
  • Provide and develop specific specialist knowledge relevant to your role.
