The Elderly Medicine Therapy team at Royal Derby Hospital are recruiting to a Band 6 secondment post as a Maternity backfill for 12 months, on a part time basis.

The post holder will be joining an established, vibrant and friendly team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and assistant staff who share an office base and work closely together to provide a consistent and responsive Therapy service to all Elderly Medicine wards.

The team is led by an Operational Lead Therapist (Physio) and a Clinical Lead OT.   Currently the OT team comprises of both full time and part time staff including one Band 7 (clinical lead), 4 band 6 OTs , 2 Band 5 OT’s ( 2x rotational) and 2 Generic Therapy assistant.

You will be required to carry a caseload independently and provide supervision and support to assist more junior OT staff as necessary.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to carry a caseload independently and provide supervision and support to junior OT staff as necessary. You must also be adaptable, calm and be able to effectively delegate work to OT and assistant staff to ensure priorities across the service are covered.  This will involve working closely with the other senior OT’s and Physiotherapists

Experience in managing complex discharges in a fast paced acute hospital environment is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively as part of multi disciplinary and Therapy teams.

You will have experience in working with the elderly population and will be expected to play an active role in the development of the service and the individuals within the service.

Prior experience as a senior OT is not essential if you have gained relevant skills and  experience as a Band 5 and have a passion for the area of Elderly Medicine.  If you join our team we can offer:
