Due to career progression within the team, we now have two positions for Senior Occupational Therapists to join our acute female wards.
The role of the Senior Occupational Therapist will involve supporting the the ward team and occupational therapy service in providing strong clinical leadership, ensuring that wherever possible evidence-based practice is delivered to improve the quality of practice and to create responsive services. The post holder will support the development of operational and clinical service mechanisms for the women admitted to the wards.
The positions involve supporting and collaborating with Occupational Therapists at ward level, having an oversight of the Occupational Therapy provision and enabling transition to the Hope and Resilience Hub and Community facing services. It promotes compassionate treatment and care in a safe and therapeutic setting for people in an acute stage of their illness. It enables supported and sustainable transition from inpatient to community services.
Have a high clinical profile that includes the provision of individual treatment, as well as having a global overview of interventions and clinical activities within the ward team.
Skills in communicating with multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrate expert knowledge in the acute setting, ensuring this is disseminated in a constructive and effective way in the context of the recovery philosophy and the social inclusion agenda.
Actively manage own workload, effectively and efficiently prioritising competing demands.
Assess the needs of service users in complex situations using professional knowledge, judgements and skills to account for decisions made.
Ensure all service users have an up-to-date occupational therapy plan that has been negotiated with the service user to meet their individual occupational needs.
Demonstrate an understanding of leadership theory and how strategies can be adapted according to need.
Working closely with other ward based Occupational Therapists, ensuring delivery of an Occupational Therapy service to meet service user needs.
Actively participate in clinical practice development through mentoring and coaching, in particular facilitating student education and fieldwork placements.
