Job summary

We have a secondment opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team on the Isle of Wight.

You will work as a Senior Occupational Therapist within the Integrated Community Stroke Service - ICSS, providing advanced patient assessment and therapeutic intervention for those patients admitted to the Service.

The successful candidate will provide an occupational therapy service which will be integral to the ICSS for the IOW and provide a seamless transition of care between Hospital, Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team -SESD and the Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team -CSRT.

You will continually evaluate service provision, propose and carry out developments that will improve service delivery and patient care and act as a resource and support to a wide range of other disciplines, agencies, and carers by providing knowledge and skills, including contribution to education and research programmes as required.

Main duties of the job

To undertake a supporting role, in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the Occupational Therapy Service provided to clients within the service on a day to day basis.To take an active role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the ICSS who may have a complex presentation and determine if or what Occupational Therapy treatment is indicated. To work as an autonomous practitioner ensuring that records are maintained and up to date in line with policy and governing body HCPC.To supervise, teach and appraise more junior Occupational Therapists, Associate Practitioners, Occupational Therapy students and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, as determined by the team leader and professional lead.To keep up to date with developments in stroke rehabilitation, undertaking audit to evaluate practice, and participating in research as appropriate.To supervise, initiate and participate in evidence-based projects and assist in implementing changes within designated team or area.To represent Occupational Therapy at MDT meetings
