Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic senior occupational therapist to join our hands team at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The post is a static position working with children and young people with congenital hand differences and traumatic hand injuries.

Working within the hands team, you will provide a range of assessments and treatments for congenital hand differences and traumatic hand injuries. This includes splinting, ADL assessments, treatments to improve ROM, strength and function along with pre-op assessments.  The majority of therapy is provided in an outpatient setting, with some occasional ward based work.   You will work closely with the medical team and other MDT team members to deliver high levels of care.

Main duties of the job

The post is suitable for an Occupational Therapist with some experience in hand therapy, who is keen to develop their skills further in this area.  The post will provide opportunities to complete service development projects alongside their clinical caseload and be involved in audits/ research and extra patient activities such as residential trips. The therapy team work closely with the wider hand and upper limb team and collaborate on publications, presentations as well as attending international conferences together.
