An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Support Worker (CSW) to join our Children and Young Peoples Diabetes Team.
This Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker position is for someone with an interest in diabetes. The post is fixed term for one year. At the end of this term the post will be reviewed and may continue.
The jobholder will work within a team of Nurse Specialists responsible to the CDNS Team Leader. Relevant qualifications in health and social care, essential. Experience of working within a healthcare setting delivering clinical care, desirable. Basic IT skills required. Specific training and support will be provided with a commitment to undergo further training.
Responsibilities will include supporting the running of the diabetes outpatients clinics. Assist children and young people and their familes attending clinic with the initial assessments, uploading diabetes technology, taking blood samples and assisting with group education sessions. Support families with diabetes technology issues and trouble shoot. Ordering supplies of equipment and maintaining stock levels. The post holder will work in partnership with children and families to share expert knowledge, care and support.
The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with the team leader, specialist senior nurses and wider multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based, patient focused practice.

JOB PURPOSE
The jobholder will be actively involved in providing direct and indirect compassionate care for patients in support of the multidisciplinary team. The jobholder will undertake a range of delegated clinical patient care duties and can be expected to work under direct or indirect supervision by a registered practitioner.
The jobholder will assist in the overall implementation and evaluation of care as part of the multi professional team. The jobholder is expected to plan, implement, deliver and maintain high standards of patient care. The jobholder will be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) and acting on own initiative to achieve the planned outcome.
The jobholder will contribute to the maintenance of an environment for effective care.
The jobholder will be expected to lead a team of clinical support workers and apprentice clinical support workers.
The jobholder will be expected to practice in accordance within Trust policies, guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within defined competency boundaries.

The Care Certificate or in the absence of this the job holder must successfully attain the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment
Significant experience within a band 3 CSW post with an obligation to complete the relevant qualification within the first 12 months of employment
