The successful candidate will become a valued member of the Complex Obstetric Surgery and Placenta Accreta Spectrum team. They will have a vital role in the COS service, attending COS antenatal clinics; regular COS theatre lists; and the PAS regional MDT. The successful candidate will be involved in coordinating the MDT, working cooperatively with the multidisciplinary team for complex cases. The successful candidate will have ample opportunity to develop and learn in their clinical role focused on open surgical techniques relevant to complex obstetric surgery. As part of their role the successful candidate will be expected to be involved in ongoing audit of complex obstetric surgical cases and outcomes, and participate in ongoing research in the department.
In addition to their clinical role the successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in the organisation and coordination of the forthcoming COS courses. They will perform this role in close collaboration with existing faculty. Prior experience in medical education and training provision is strongly desired as well as an open and enthusiastic personality to bring the best out of delegates as well as working with medical industry to provide support. Surgical videos play a large role in existing training. The successful candidate will play an active role in recording and editing new educational videos for specific procedures/describe techniques to continue the development of a video library. The successful candidate will be expected to coauthor chapters in the upcoming complex obstetric surgery book.
The successful candidate will be expected to present and attend relevant conferences throughout the year and will be encouraged to do so. There is a collaborative effort within the department to submit abstracts for presentation far and wide including video case reports, audits, and research. Experience in surgical video editing and presentation is desired.

The post holder will have the following duties in addition to those described above:
Clinical
• Attending weekly obstetric theatre lists.
• Attending regular fetal medicine ultrasound lists.
• Attending weekly COS antenatal clinic.
• Gaining the technical skills relevant to COS.
• Participation on the on-call rota for obstetrics and gynaecology.
Management
• Participation in audit and governance activities of the service.
• Be responsible for recording relevant surgical activity, perform audits and reports.
• Coordinate and enact the recommendations of the regional MDT together COS Consultants.
• Engage in the education of other junior doctors, nursing staff and other colleagues.
Academic
• Submission of abstracts for presentation at relevant conferences throughout the year.
• Participate in existing clinical research, actively recruit participants and be involved in developing future studies.
• Coordinate and organise COS courses together with existing faculty.
