We seek an enthusiastic, experienced, team player, who wishes to gain further clinical experience in Maternal Medicine and High Risk Obstetrics, to join our award-winning academic department which is the lead provider for Obstetric Medicine for North West London. The successful candidate will join a busy, thriving department that is forward looking and innovative. We are the sector leaders in many aspects of obstetric and gynaecological practice. The post will suit a candidate who wishes to undertake advanced training in maternal medicine as part of OOPE or a post-CCT trainee wishing to finesse their skill on obstetric medicine prior to taking a consultant post.
The successful candidate will carry out clinical duties within all areas of the obstetrics and gynaecology department but with twice weekly MDT Obstetric Medicine clinics (including the Joint Cardiac Clinic with Brompton and the MDT Diabetes/Endocrine Clinic), Maternal Medicine ward rounds twice per week (Obstetric Physician led) and Maternal Medicine MDT meetings (Cardiac, Cystic Fibrosis, Haematology, Neurology and Diabetes and Endocrine). When on call the post holder will be on the three-tier rota covering obstetrics and gynaecology in a 1:8 on out of hours call frequency as the Junior or Senior Registrar depending on prior experience.
The appointee will be supported to complete the ATSM in Maternal Medicine and the Advanced Professional Module in Clinical Research and attend obstetric ultrasound scanning sessions to develop scanning skills. Chelsea is the lead site within the sector for abnormally invasive placentas and the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in high-risk elective obstetric procedures and other specialist Obstetric clinics (Multiple Pregnancy and Preterm Birth).
It is expected that the successful candidate will undertake clinical audits and undertake quality improvement projects (QIP) under consultant supervision within the area of Maternal Medicine. The successful candidate can take an active role in optimising high risk antenatal care pathways both within the Trust and North West Maternal Medicine Network.
