Job summary

The post holder will act as first point of contact for all forms of communication for the junior medical team in managing the duty rotas for the Derm and plastics Directorate, and provide advice and support where appropriate.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that appropriate level of all medical cover is maintained in the Directorate, and that resources are most effectively used when additional cover is required Trust wide

The post holder requires excellent communication and organisational skills with a confident and pleasant telephone manner. A high level of keyboard skills and computer literacy is essential

The post holder will provide a confidential, efficient and effective administrative service to the management of the Surgical Directorate

The post holder will be expected to work closely with all members across the multidisciplinary team, Medical Staff (both junior and senior), Medical Staffing, Divisional/Business Managers and Secretarial and Clerical Staff across the Trust, and have the ability to prioritize their own workload and act accordingly

The post holder will liaise with the Education Centre Staff to support Medical Staff regarding training

Main duties of the job

Co-ordination of leave requests Trust wide for all Medical Staff within the Surgical Directorate, including those working cross-site. Scrutinizing applications to ensure adequate cover, and on discovering discrepancies bringing this to the attention of the Clinical Supervisor/General Manager.

Regularly arranging medical cover at short notice to ensure continuity of service to ensure patient safety.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
