Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 4 Rehabilitation Assistant Practitioner to join our dynamic Inpatient Therapy Team based at Lymington New Forest Hospital. The Therapy Team delivers the highest quality of care to four inpatient wards. This includes supporting acutely unwell patients across MAU (medical assessment unit), and two medical wards whilst also delivering rehab interventions to a therapy lead rehabilitation ward. The team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Assistant, and an Apprentice Occupational Therapist.

Our team aims to maximise an individual's abilities, with a focus on patient- centred goals, whilst enabling a safe discharge from hospital. With good multi-disciplinary working and strong links with our community colleagues, our friendly team work together, helping to support patient flow, ensuring a smooth transition between hospital and community settings.

This post would be ideal for someone who has experience as a senior therapy assistant (Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy) with the required qualifications or, for someone who would like to develop in their career to a Band 4 with experience working within a therapy team. Training is available to support with this opportunity.

Main duties of the job

.

The role requires the successful candidate to work as part of a team to manage a designated workload (within a scope of practice), maintain appropriate work records, and accept accountability and responsibility for their own actions. The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, with close supervision/support from a qualified team member, and as part of the wider multi- disciplinary team.

The position will assist the Therapy Team to deliver high quality inter-professional care to both acute medical and rehabilitation patients at Lymington New Forest Hospital. The cohort of patients offers experience of working with wide ranging pathologies including orthopaedics and polytraumas on our rehab wards to frailty and palliative care on our medical wards. The role also involves close working links with the community teams, Romsey Hospital and Hampshire County Council.

The Therapy Team is part of a strong allied health professional workforce in The New Forest. Lymington New Forest Hospital is a 75 bedded unit with outstanding facilities.
