Job overview

We are advertising for two part time Tobacco Treatment Advisors to join our Maternity team. One position at 30 hours and a second position at 22.5 hours per week.

The Smoke Free Tobacco Treatment Advisor will provide individualized smoking cessation support to pregnant and post-partum women receiving maternity care across Herefordshire and to their partners and/or close family members.

Working with maternity services, TDA will also promote wellbeing and health. The post holder will have in depth-experience of behavioural change, managing clinics, have the ability to work both independently and autonomously.

The post holder will have an understanding and experience of managing caseloads, excellent communication skills in engaging with vulnerable women in a culturally sensitive manner as well as being able to follow instructions and policies.

The TDA working within Herefordshire maternity services will provide individualised public health support to women and will specifically deliver smoking cessation support to women and their families in a flexible and innovative way.

Main duties of the job

Persuading mothers and household members to stop Smoking using a variety of evidence-based stop smoking interventions including face-to-face, behavioural support and pharmacotherapy, 1:1 face to face in a variety of settings including home visits, use of e-cigarettes and telephone and texting support, ANC clinics and community hub.

The TDA will work closely with others as part of the wider pathway to support smoking cessation and smoke-free households including carbon monoxide testing; risk perception interventions; and recording, collating and monitoring smoking and quit rates and client progress.

The post holder will be working closely with the team leader to implement a range of services across the LMNS. As a smoke free champion across the Trust you will provide information, advice and support to patients on stopping smoking, minimizing harm from tobacco and health-related issues. Working closely with Midwifery teams.

Undertaking coherent and excellent management of caseload and have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. There will be limited opportunity for home working. The post holder will be expected to work with data and support the team leader in providing an accurate record of numbers and submissions of data in a timely manner. The post holder will work to policies and procedures.
