This is an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist to make a valuable difference to the lives of people living with cancer, within our friendly and well-established Department of Psychological Medicine through the delivery of an externally funded project.
This post sits within our Acute Medicine and Cancer Psychology Team. The cancer psychology team consists of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Principal Clinical Psychologist, Senior Clinical Psychologist and Specialist Counsellor.
Funding has been provided by the Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance Innovation Fund, to develop psychological skills training for newly developed roles in our wider cancer service e.g. cancer care co-ordinators and pathways navigators.
The postholder will lead on this project, undertaking a training needs assessment, developing and delivering the necessary training, alongside evaluating its impact and the project as a whole. Support will be provided by the wider team, as well as an Assistant Psychologist.
Our department has an ongoing commitment to flexible and hybrid working, so the post will include some working from home. We see good quality supervision and CPD as essential to the well-being of our staff, and we actively support learning and development within the role.

The postholder will lead on the innovation fund project, undertaking a training needs assessment, developing and delivering the necessary training, alongside evaluating its impact and the project as a whole. Support will be provided by the wider team as well as an Assistant Psychologist (0.2wte)
The MDTs (including consultants and nurses) are very open to psychological approaches and have appreciated working with a psychologist in their teams for a number of years.
