We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated registered pharmacy technician to promote safe, efficient, and cost-effective medicines management within NHS Orkney, as part of the evolving Scottish Government primary care strategy, including pharmacotherapy services.

This post is funded by Primary Care Improvement Fund monies to develop pharmacy services within GP practices, with the intention of transferring medicine related tasks and activities currently undertaken by GPs to the Primary Care Pharmacy Team.

The post holder will work as a pharmacy technician, across all GP practices and Care Homes across NHS Orkney. This will include providing pharmaceutical support through the reviewing of prescribing data, performing audits, and recommending changes in prescribing practices with your key focus being to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for the residents of Orkney. You will be supported and mentored by our existing team of experienced primary and secondary care clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and will also be provided the opportunity to further develop your skills by undertaking in house training.

This is an exciting post offering a unique working environment with a friendly and enthusiastic team in a stunning remote and rural setting. You will work with general practice and managed service staff to ensure prescribing is safe, effective, and efficient by becoming an integral member of the Primary Care multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidates may have a community pharmacy, general practice, or hospital background, but good technical, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
