Main duties of the job

  • To work as a prime care provider in all aspects of midwifery care. To work flexibly within the team to provide 24 hour cover for antenatal/postnatal wards, labour ward, Birth centre and community. This will require internal rotation between areas and day/night duty following long rotation.
  • The post holder is expected to be an expert clinical midwife who will give advice and guidance on the midwifery care of women and pregnant people, babies and their families
  • To provide midwifery care for in-patients during the postnatal period
  • To support the day to day running of the Edith Dare Ward including multidisciplinary ward rounds
  • Be a mentor to qualified midwives, students and support staff
  • To work collaboratively with the Ward managers and Matrons to provide and develop high quality, safe and effective service
  • To work collaboratively with patients and user representatives to develop the service in response to feedback received including local and national initiatives
