Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Phlebotomy Manager within the Diagnostics and Therapies Care Group.

The successful applicant will undertake the management for all aspects of staff and service; to be responsible for providing a professional phlebotomy service at both Medway NHSFT and Sheppey Community Hospital.

We are looking for a flexible, reliable, proactive professional who can manage the team,  work between sites,  provide theoretical and practical training, and lead on service improvement working within Diagnostics and Therapies management team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ensure the safe, operational delivery of the phlebotomy service.

Ensure that protocols of safe techniques are used by phlebotomists to ensure a minimum of distress or discomfort to the patient throughout the blood sampling procedure.

Establish and maintain appropriate procedures to ensure that the correct blood samples are drawn for the analysis requested and that the samples are subsequently treated correctly so as to be suitable for performance of the analysis concerned.

Supervise the collection of blood samples and their transmission to laboratory reception points.

Organise and participate in the maintenance of phlebotomy work areas and equipment.
