At this exciting time in our development, we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic Dispensary Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Dispensary environment helping to deliver an efficient service by working as part of a fantastic team to reach set targets. The successful applicant will need to be self-motivated, work effectively as part of a team, be enthusiastic and have excellent organisational and communication skills. The candidate will also share our vision to deliver high quality, evidence-based and cost-effective services for patients. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our service by working on a service development plan. This will involve identifying areas for improvement, implementing innovative solutions, and helping shape the future of our Dispensary services to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our patients efficiently and effectively.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Pharmacy Technician in the Inpatient Pharmacy Dispensary, you will support the Lead Pharmacy Technician in delivering essential services and ensuring the efficient flow of patients. You will prioritise tasks in line with Trust priorities, supervise junior staff members, and promote a positive and productive team environment. As one of the main accuracy checkers in the department, you will play a critical role in maintaining high standards of service. Additionally, you will be involved in the dispensing of controlled drugs, chemotherapy, and clinical trial medications, as well as conducting unlicensed medicines assessments. You will also manage escalations, addressing issues promptly and referring them to the Lead Pharmacy Technician or Senior Management Team as appropriate.
