We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacy assistant to join our pharmacy team within the technical services department at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

The technical services team are responsible for the ordering, supply checking and distribution of  Parenteral Nutrition and Chemotherapy to patients in the trust.  As part of this team working alongside Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in Technical Services as well as the large department.

You will also participate in dispensary rotations to carrying out dispensing duties.  This will include late night and weekend cover.

Main duties of the job

Support the ordering, receipt and dispensing of Chemotherapy, CIVAS and PN.

Participate, as core duties in the dispensing process for the In-Patient Dispensary.

To participate in the Pharmacy stock topping up programme.

To participate in stock control management.

To support the training of assistant technical officers (ATO’s), students and other trainees.

To efficiently use the current pharmacy computer systems.

To participate in reception duties, receiving of prescriptions and using the prescription tracking system.

To participate in daily stock takes to ensure accurate stock levels are maintained.

To participate in pharmacy ward audits across all sites within the Trust.
