Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Operating Department Practitioner to join the team in Rutherford Brachytherapy Theatres. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate clinical skills within a busy specialised unit.

Oncology CSU is part of Leeds Cancer Centre, one of the largest providers of specialist cancer care in the UK. Rutherford Brachytherapy Theatres is a busy highly specialised Oncology Day Surgery Unit. Situated in the Centre, we treat approximately 130 patients per month in the theatre suite. The department is currently open 7:30am to 6pm each weekday. We care for complex Oncology patients with a variety of diagnoses.

If you are interested in developing new skills the CSU will provide training and support to enable you to gain specialist skills and develop your career.

The Department provides an established and internationally renowned Gynaecology and Prostate Brachytherapy service. As a multi-disciplinary team comprising of clinicians, theatre staff, radiographers and medical scientists we deliver optimum, high quality, patient focused treatment with favourable results.

The department offers a dedicated adult Oncology CVAD insertion and removal service which is in is in high demand. We also accommodate a pain list for patients requiring specialist intervention for their pain control.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, theatre staff, radiographers and medical physicists all providing specialist treatment and patient support.

We are a flexible workforce allowing practitioners to work across all aspects of the day-case patients pathway - admission, the peri-operative phase and recovery and discharge. This provides variety and the opportunity to increase your skills set. The post-holder is expected to use their experience in supporting and training other qualified professionals, trainees and visitors
