Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic  Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our experienced and supportive Paediatric MSK Physiotherapy Team in York.   The team delivers high quality compassionate clinical care across York and Selby, to children and young people from 0-17 years, with a variety of MSK conditions.

We are looking for a Physiotherapist who has a keen interest in working with children and wishes to develop their skills further in this area.  Previous Paediatric experience is desirable but not essential, however any interested candidates are expected to show in their application an understanding of the differences working with children and how their skills are transferable to this role.  Full training will be offered to the successful candidate on appointment to the post.

You will be working in a supportive working environment as part of a friendly and innovative integrated Children’s Therapy Team. Our team has a strong commitment to supporting personal and professional development through our in-service training programme, clinical and managerial supervision and appraisal. Support will be provided from the Clinical Lead in Paediatric Musculo-Skeletal Physiotherapy to help you develop in your role.

The post holder may be required to contribute to the Respiratory On-Call and weekend Physiotherapy emergency service.

Interviews will take place on the 14th January 2025.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, and will have clinical experience gained through a range of junior rotations and student placements.

Working alongside an experienced and knowledgeable team, you will have the opportunity to develop your assessment skills and interventions for a variety of Paediatric MSK conditions.

You will be required to undertake the physiotherapy assessment and management of a designated group of patients, support clinical diagnosis and need for physiotherapy intervention.

There is a strong emphasis on service improvement and innovative practice is encouraged. The successful applicant would be expected to fully participate in ongoing service development activities, alongside the training programme. You also will have the opportunity to contribute to the supervision of therapy assistants and students.

The ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy. Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and hold a full and valid driving licence (role will involve travel to numerous addresses that cannot be easily accessed by public transport means) is required.
