We have an excellent opportunity at Moorfields Eye Hospital across the two divisions for a jointly appointed Band 6 paediatric nurse. The joint senior paediatric staff nurse role will be working across both our City Road division and the South Division, both are within easy access via public transport. This senior paediatric staff nurse is part of our plan in providing a well lead paediatric service across the two divisions. The paediatric nurse will be leading on providing the quality nursing care for our paediatric outpatient clinics across the divisions, and also our paediatric day surgery care at our Richard Desmond Children’s Eye Centre at City Road and Moorfields at St Georges Hospital site, Tooting. The post holder should have significant paediatric nursing experience in a health care setting including experience in the safeguarding children’s agenda as part of providing holistic care. This is a full-time post, however, we can be extremely flexible in working hours and working patterns as long as the service needs are met and job sharing will definitely be considered for the right candidates.
To work towards the development and delivery of high standards of patient care by using clearly defined care pathways. Participate in safeguarding children and young people within the Trust and ensure that the Trust Safeguarding Policy is adhered to and that concerns are communicated to the senior members of the paediatric team and the safeguarding children team.
Assess the needs of the infant, child and young person according to the agreed model of nursing care, implement and evaluate the planned care, working in partnership with the family and ensuring that a safe standard of care is delivered. Undertake the required levels of training for Safeguarding Children and Young People. Participate in the pre-admission assessment of children and their families. Ensure that all forms of communication are used effectively in the interest of family centred care. Liaise closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team in order to implement distraction therapies for working with children and their families in any clinical setting.
