We are delighted to invite applications for a Senior Fellow in Musculoskeletal Oncology commencing from August 2025 for 1 year.
This fellowship is designed for an experienced orthopaedic clinician, who will benefit from a further period of development in the sub-speciality of MSK Oncology, in preparation for a consultant role. The doctor will contribute to the provision of MSK Oncology orthopaedic surgery within the Trust. The Fellowship can be designed around the training needs of the successful applicant, with opportunity for independent practice dependent on level of experience. The fellowship is BOOS accredited*.

The Musculoskeletal Tumour Service at RJAH is one of the five Bone Sarcoma units commissioned by NHS England. It provides a comprehensive service in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumours. It is part of the Greater Manchester and Oswestry Sarcoma Service (GMOSS) along with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
This appointment is to join the existing team of 3 consultants. The Montgomery Unit, a purpose built Musculoskeletal Oncology Unit, opened in 2016. It has a clinic suite of 3 consulting rooms, a treatment room, physiotherapy room, reception area, consultants office/conference room, secretarial and nursing offices.
Within the same new build is Oswald Ward which has ten single bed en-suite rooms, Baschurch Day Surgical Unit and the High Dependency Unit.
1. Support out-patient clinics.
2. Assist in theatre lists, with potential for increased independent practice subject to experience and ability.
3. Assessment of new patients, with consultant supervision.
4. Clerk admissions where required and be responsible for the supervision of the junior team and day-to-day care of in-patients.
5. Attendance and supervision of ward rounds with junior fellow and specialist nurses.
6. Discharge requirements for in-patients.
7. To assist with any other aspects of patient care as appropriate.
8. To lead in surgical planning, and assist in clinic preparation and MDT duties.
9. To participate in audit and research.
Rota
Duties will be Monday to Friday with time flexibility required within a normal working day. The is no hospital oncall requirement with this post.
