Job overview

An exciting opportunity  has arisen at Newham’s Early  Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIS) for the post of Operational Team Lead for a 12 month secondment, or fixed term contract.

EIS provides a service to people, age 18-65, who are residents of Newham and have experienced a recent onset of psychosis. The Service objective is to enable these service users to recover rapidly and fully, avoid a pattern of recurring relapse or loss of social functioning, traumatic hospitalization and social exclusion.

We are looking for  a dynamic  and inspirational  leader to operationally lead the Team in collaboration with the Clinical Lead.

The post holder must have  expertise and passion for working  with service users   experiencing first episode psychosis.

Main duties of the job

  • Take overall operational management responsibility for the EIS including the day-to-day management of all members of the team.
  • Ensure services provided by the EIS team are organised in a responsive way, of the brand of a standard of professional practice and performance to meet the needs of Newham's diverse community.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in place and adhered to by all EIS team members, to deliver services to young people with a recent onset of psychosis.
  • Ensure that care is provided through a whole team approach as recommended in Early Intervention in Psychosis best practice literature.
  • Be a key member of the operational leadership team alongside other mental health services in the Newham Directorate and wider system partners.
  • Facilitate a learning environment for all EIS staff and students and others involved with the first episode user group.
  • Provide specialist professional clinical and managerial skills and knowledge to the team via training, supervision, consultation, and joint direct clinical work with service user.
