Job overview

This is an exciting time to join our surgical team, as we open the newly built Sussex Surgical Centre (Elective Surgical Hub).

This consists of 4 new theatres, 2 existing Day surgery theatres, Pre-Assessment, first and second stage recovery.

The SSC will be open initially  5 days a week, extending to a 6 day working week in the Autumn 2025.

The unit will be open from 07:00 to 22:00pm and theatres will be operating a 10 hour day between 08:00 and 18:00.

Within the elective hub we will be caring for a variety of day case surgical patients including Trauma and Orthopaedics, General Surgery , Urology, Gynaecology, ENT, Maxilla Facial  and other specialities.

We are looking for experienced HCPC registered ODP’s and NMC Registered staff with Anaesthetic experience to join our team . You will need to have at least 2 years’ experience within anaesthetics,  a mentorship qualification, leadership training.

Main duties of the job

As the new SSC is a purpose build for elective day case procedures your role will include the safe management of patients pre and post operatively.

Working closely with all members of the multi disciplinary team, this includes the assessment, implementation and evaluation of the day surgery pathway for ensuring the delivery of safe care to our patients.

The Band 6 will have delegated responsibilities agreed by their line manager. These will include managing and leading delivery of care,  supporting staff, mentoring of students and junior staff.
