Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for part time permanent band 6 Occupational Therapists. This is suitable as a developmental post for an experienced band 5 who wants to develop to a senior role. You will benefit from working in a busy NHS Trust offering service provision across care homes, and patients’ homes in West Suffolk. The Interim care home beds provide ongoing assessment for patients following an inpatient admission at the acute hospital.  You would work within the multidisciplinary team across different sites to help those that are transitioning from an acute environment who require additional assessment prior to being discharged. This role may also include working across West Suffolk in the various Community Assessment Beds settings providing reablement and discharge planning support.

Main duties of the job

To provide assessments and interventions to patients within their home or care residence setting. To participate in professional supervision and training for other occupational therapists, students and therapy assistants. To assist the team lead in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the service provided to patients, on a day-to-day basis. To provide additional support in the absence of the team lead and to the wider teams as required. To actively contribute to service improvements to ensure practice is of the highest quality, evidence based and meets the needs of the local population.

We will offer the successful candidates the opportunity to broaden their clinical practice, knowledge and skills with using evidence-based practice to help ensure the quality of service delivery meets the requirements of the patients and service. The post holder will support occupational therapy apprentice and other students as part of our wider programme.  Promoting the role of occupational therapy within the Trust, and more widely is an essential part of the role. The occupational therapy department is part of Integrated Therapy Services, and forms part of the wider West Suffolk Alliance.
