We are seeking to appoint a Senior Team Leader with caring, compassionate nature, who is innovative, creative, flexible and highly motivated. Primarily you will undertake specialist access mental health assessments (including clinical risk) with clinical and crisis interventions for young people presenting with acute and severe mental health episodes in critical situations.

To provide a specialist role in the co-ordination of care for young people and their families, who are residing in CAMHS Tier 4 placements out of the Lancashire/South Cumbria area.  Also, be aware of the national demand for CAMHS inpatient beds and reliably inform internal staff of any out of area admissions/need for specialist out of area beds.

You should be an excellent communicator and team player, with the successful applicant joining a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of professionals working in a brand new specialist residential service in Heysham, Morecambe. Young people’s mental health is a specialist field that will provide you with a highly challenging and very rewarding career. Regular clinical supervision and support will be provided. The service is committed to young people’s participation in decision making and we would expect applicants to support collaborative working with young people. The selection and appointment process will involve Young People who have experience of using CAMHS services. Please note: This post is subject to an enhanced DBS Clearance. As part of the pre-employment checks, successful candidates will be required to pay for their own DBS check at a cost of £50. Deductions will be taken from the first 3 months’ salary. All posts are subject to the nationally agreed Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

Main duties of the job

To deputise in the absence of the Ward Manager who has responsibility for the management of the ward which include:

Management of the nursing team.

• Responsibility for resource management, nursing budget, staff timesheets, non-stock orders etc.
• In conjunction with the Ward Manager, take the lead role in recruitment and retention, staff appraisals and staff disciplinary issues.
• Responsibility for clinical care standards, clinical audit, governance issues and health and safety
• Lead the unit relating to safeguarding.
• To have direct clinical involvement with the resident young people by developing and implementing programmes of care that include provision of emotional support, physical care, social care and family support.
• To provide case management supervision to Keyworkers and to deputise for them in clinical meetings/review meetings where appropriate
• To provide specialist clinical, managerial and leadership input into training programmes and events within CAMHS.
• To undertake, where necessary, specialist gatekeeping mental health assessments (including clinical risk) with clinical and crisis interventions for young people presenting with acute and severe mental health episodes in critical situations
• Provide, where necessary, CAMHS gatekeeping assessments across Lancashire Care Trust for young people, aged 16 years to 18 years admitted to adult mental health wards. To support the staff in the provision of planning, managing and evaluating specialised care.
• To provide a specialist role in the co-ordination of care for young people and their families, who are residing in CAMHS Tier 4 placements out of the Lancashire/South Cumbria area.
