Job overview

Estates Technicians are expected to work across all engineering disciplines which are often more complex and non-routine.  Technicians are trained wider than their core skills and acquired elements of building, electrical and mechanical skills and have reached a level of flexibility and competence which enables them to achieve and apply the ability where required to perform across the summary of duties below.

Support the Estates team and colleagues in providing excellent customer service at all time.

To provide technical assistance for mechanical/ electrical staff and contractors ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.

To undertake complex fault diagnosis on mechanical and electrical services and fault rectification, maintenance, and M&E installation work across the Trust.

To undertake special Departmental projects as identified by the Head of Estates or Senior Estates Technician.

To undertake the duties of an Authorised Person (AP) or Competent Person (CP) for specific engineering disciplines as required to do so by the Head of Estates/ Estates Manager.

The post holder will report to the Estates Manager / Works Officer on a daily basis.

Participate in an emergency call out service.

Main duties of the job

Deliver planned and reactive maintenance services from the PPM planner, ensuring that operational standards are maintained at all times. Duties may include (but not limited to) fault finding, minors repairs or installations and maintaining services and equipment within critical environments.

Work with and support the Projects and Minor Works teams and assisting the Estates Manager / Works Officer in identifying, scoping, and delivering minor capital works programs.

Ensure compliance in line with all processes/procedures and policies that meets organisational standards/requirements including but not limited to our Health & Safety Policy/HTMs (Health Technical Memoranda) and SFG20. Ensuring new or revised policies are implemented within own work areas.

Diagnose and repair faults in electrical and engineering installation, plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.

Completion of all designated maintenance tasks in line with statutory requirements, and to a high standard.
